The Martian dan The Revenant Berebut Piala Oscar 2016

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Nominasi Academy Award atau Oscar 2016, baru saja diumumkan di Samuel Goldwyne Theater, Beverly Hills, Amerika Serikat, Kamis (14/1).

Sutradara Ang Lee, Guillermo del Toro, John Krasinki, serta Presiden The Academy Awards, Cheryl Boone Isaacs didaulat untuk membacakan nominasi penghargaan film paling bergengsi di dunia itu.

Untuk kategori Best Picture, terdapat delapan film yang menjadi nominasinya.

Nominasi pertama adalah The Bridge of Spies, film bergenre biodrama thriller karya tiga sutradara ternama, yakni Steven Spielberg, Marc Platt dan Kristie Macosko Krieger. Film yang dibintangi oleh Tom Hanks menceritakan tentang seorang pengacara di Newyork, James Donovan, yang dituduh menjadi mata-mata Rusia di era peran dingin.

Berikutnya adalah Brooklyn karya sutradara Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey. Film percintaan ini mengisahkan tentang imigran asal Irlandia, Eilis Lacey, yang bermigrasi ke Brooklyn pada 1952 guna mencari pekerjaan. Dia kemudian terjebak cinta segi tiga dengan dua laki-laki yang terpisah jarak karena beda negara.

Film Mad Max: Fury Road, karya sutradara Doug Mitchell and George Miller juga masuk dalam nominasi Best Picture. Film yang diperankan oleh Charlize Theron dan Tom Hardy ini mengisahkan tentang kehidupan di Australia yang dikuasai oleh penjahat setelah kiamat menghancurkan dunia. Film ini dirilis pada Mei lalu dan diproduksi dengan biaya US$150 juta dengan keuntungan US$375,8 juta di seluruh dunia.

Nominasi berikutnya adalah Room. Film drama karya sutradara Ed Guiney ini diangkat dari sebuah novel terlaris karya Emma Donoghue. Film ini bercerita tentang kisah seorang ibu (ma) yang menjadi korban penyekapan selama bertahun-tahun di sebuah ruangan hingga melahirkan dan membesarkan anaknya dalam ruangan tersebut.

Selanjutnya film yang menjadi nominasi adalah Spotlight, yang disutradarai oleh Michael Sugar, Steve Golin, Nicole Rocklin and Blye Pagon Faust.

Tiga film lain yang juga masuk dalam nominasi best picture adalah The Big Short, The Martian, dan The Revenant.

Nominasi terakhir, The Revenant baru saja mendapatkan Golden Globe Award untuk kategori film terbaik. Film ini bercerita soal perjuangan seorang Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) untuk hidup di tengah hutan setelah ditinggal untuk mati oleh kawanannya.
