Kendrick Lamar Kuasai Nominasi MTV VMA 2017

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Rapper Kendrick Lamar mendominasi nominasi ajang MTV Video Music Awards 2017. Lamar memimpin dengan delapan nominasi dengan mencetak tujuh nominasi berkat video musiknya Humble.

Selain itu, rapper asal Compton ini bersaing dengan Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, dan Lorde dalam kategori Artist of the Year.

Di bawah Lamar, ada Katy Perry dan The Weeknd yang masing-masing mendapat lima nominasi. Perry sendiri mencetak nominasi untuk beberapa lagu barunya, termasuk Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Appetit dan kolaborasi bersama Calvin Harris, Feels.

Sementara itu, The Weeknd meraih nominasi untuk video musik Reminder yang masuk ke dalam beberapa kategori video kreatif.

MTV VMA tahun ini tidak menghadirkan kategori berdasarkan gender seperti Best Female Video dan Best Male Video dan menggabungkannya menjadi kategori Artist of the Year.

Mereka pun menambahkan kategori baru Best Fight Against the System, penghargaan untuk video yang menentang ketidakadilan sosial. Dalam kategori baru itu nominasinya diisi Logic, Big Sean, Alessia Cara, dan John Legend.

Selain itu, khalayak juga dilibatkan langsung dalam penjurian untuk delapan kategori Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop Video, dan Best Dance Video.

MTV Music Video Awards akan ditayangkan dari The Forus di Inglewood, California, pada 27 Agustus pukul 8 malam waktu setempat.
