Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Film The Shape of Water membuat penasaran sejak mendapat banyak tempat di nominasi Golden Globe Awards 2018. Namun film itu hanya membawa pulang dua piala.
Kini The Shape of Water berjaya di Critics’ Choice Awards ke-23 yang diselenggarakan pada Kamis (11/1) malam waktu Amerika Serikat. Ia bahkan menjadi Film Terbaik di ajang itu.
Untuk kategori itu, The Shape of Water berhasil mengalahkan film-film seperti The Big Sick, Call Me by Your Name, Get Out, Lady Bird, dan The Post.
Bukan hanya piala Film Terbaik yang dibawa pulang film romantis gelap itu.
Guillermo del Toro pengarah The Shape of Water juga menjadi Sutradara Terbaik.
Piala lain yang dibawa pulang film yang dibintangi Sally Hawkins itu adalah untuk kategori Desain Produksi Terbaik serta Scoring Terbaik. Ia pun menjadi film pemenang terbanyak.
Namun The Shape of Water harus mengakui keunggulan Get Out, film tentang hubungan yang rasis, yang memenangi piala untuk kategori Film Fiksi Ilmiah/ Horor Terbaik.
Ajang Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 masih memenangkan James Franco sebagai Aktor Komedi Terbaik berkat aktingnya di The Disaster Artist. Franco juga membawa pulang piala di Golden Globes, meski setelah itu ia tersandung kasus tudingan pelecehan seksual.
Ada yang menarik di ajang Critics’ Choice Awards kali ini. Penyelenggara memutuskan pemenang Penyuntingan Terbaik ada dua, yakni film Baby Driver dan Dunkirk.
